โœฆ Synopsis

The pure rotational spectrum of HCI mixed with methane gas zt different pressures and temperatures has been measured_

From the variation of the linewidths the cross sections for the different rotational transitions could be calcu!ated. A quantitative comparison with prekiously obtained data for HCI line broadening by noble gases reveals a specific broadening mechanism for the polyatomic perturbing gas.

The rotational far-infrared spectra of HCl in argon at densities between 100 and 480 amagat and T = 162.5 K are presented. The observed density dependence of the width of the different rotational lines is non-linear and differs for high-and low-frequency lines. An Enskog correction to the collision
