Abstract
A novel CPW‐fed closed rectangular ring monopole antenna with a vertical strip is proposed for WLAN applications. The antenna with a very simple structure is easily fabricated. The measured results explore broadband dual‐frequency operation with (10 dB) impedance bandwidths of 23.4%, range from 2.24 to 2.82 GHz, and 22.9%, ranging from 4.86 to 6.18 GHz, at bands of 2.48 and 5.76 GHz, respectively, which cover the 2.4/5.2/5.8 GHz WLAN operating bands. Also, good omni‐directional radiation patterns and antenna gains over the operating bands have been obtained. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
