Foreign authors sometimes appear lightly disguised, as for example Blackemon and Whippe (authorities on porto-caval anastomosis), Babcok and Bacon (excision of the rectum), and Senn Kaderre (thus in the table of contents, Sen Kaderre in the text-gastrostomy).

The book is luxuriously bound and jacketed and printed on art paper throughout. It is expensive, even by French standards.
