✦ Synopsis

This paper is devoted to the study of the effect of rotational acceleration on the threshold of cerebral concussion by considering the spherical geometry of the braincase. The skull is treated as a rigid spherical shell, the brain tissue as linearly viscoelastic material and the cerebrospinal fluid as an inviscid compressible fluid with irrotational motion. A theoretical estimate of the threshold of cerebral concussion for man is presented.
