Abstract

A staircase bow‐tie monopole‐type antenna that features a novel broadband technique is investigated experimentally and numerically. A bandwidth of 77.1% (VSWR ≤ 2) can be achieved, and an omnidirectional radiation pattern is obtained. The electrical characteristics of the proposed antenna make it attractive for use in multiband mobile systems. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
