We apply a model for thermotropic liquid crystalline polymers (TLCPs) that couples hydrodynamics, anisotropic rodlike microstructural dynamics, free surface effects, and thermodynamics to study fiber spinning of these materials. The model incorporates a Doi type theory for the nematodynamics, along
