โฆ Synopsis
The conventional boundary element method of analysis of noise problems inside cavities is inherently inaccurate at very low frequencies. This paper presents a new low frequency boundary element formulation, based upon a series solution in terms of the wavenumber. The new formulation gives accurate results and generally requires only a single point quadrature scheme. Furthermore, the wavenumber is decoupled from the boundary integrals, so that only one matrix assembly and solution is needed for the entire frequency range of analysis, which gives significant computational benefit as compared to the conventional boundary element method.
