Oncholaimus sahariensis sp .n. is described from an oasis in the Algerian Sahara . It differs from O. aquaedulcis Schneider, 1937 and O. deconincki Heyns &Coomans, 1977, the only other freshwater species in the genus, in the more posteriorly situated vulva, the spicules which are longer than in O .
