BORDEN ACQUIRES FILTRATION RESINS BUSINESS
Borden Chemical Inc, a global producer of adhesives and resins for the industrial and wood markets, has acquired the filtration media resins business of Southeastern Adhesives Co. Terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.
The acquired business makes urea formaldehyde resins used to bind glass fibres into media for air filters used in residential and industrial furnaces and other air handling equipment. It will become part of Borden Chemical's nonwovens resins business, which is based in Morganton, North Carolina, USA.
Resin production for the air filtration media business will shift to Borden Chemical's manufacturing plants. Southeastern Adhesives will continue to operate its plant in Lenoir, North Carolina, which produces resins for other industrial markets, particularly woodworking applications.
