¡Boom! es la primera novela que se publica en castellano desde que se concediera en 2012 el Nobel de Literatura al escritor chino Mo Yan. La novela es de 2003 y se publica ahora en una traducción directa del chino. En esta novela, Mo Yan y su “realismo alucinatorio”, como lo calificó la Academia sueca, destrozan los excesivos anhelos y ambiciones capitalistas que han invadido su país, y que los han convertido en lo que son ahora, materia altamente susceptible de una crítica feroz por parte del autor. La obsesión por consumir y comercializar carne sin control y sin escrúpulo acompañan el ascenso social de Luo Xiatong y del jerifalte del pueblo, Lao Lan.
