The ISO 9000 Workbook is written with ISO 9000 practitioners in mind and provides a hands-on guide to the development of a quality manual. It contains sample quality manuals, covers instructions and guidelines on how to develop and maintain quality procedures, explains how to write work instructions for business processes and describes detailed internal procedures for implementing ISO 9000. The three sample quality manuals provide a comparison between different approaches. Nevertheless, what the readers really want is the best approach which links up to the subsequent quality procedures and work instructions. The quality procedures are concise, though a part of them overlaps with the quality manual. Moreover, no attempt is made to use ¯ow-charts as a substitute for quality procedures. The sample forms are obvious strengths of the book, but there is a lack of examples of work instructions. Overall, despite the above criticisms, the book is very well structured and provides a comprehensive and easy-to-read reference for the understanding of the requirements of an ISO 9000 documentation system.
