The format (blinded analysis of data, revelation of the 'truth', and opportunity to discuss differences) provides a comparison of methods not allowed by simultaneous application of multiple methods to the same (real) data set. In the absence of accepted models of clustering based on disease aetiology, the approach provides insight (sometimes enlightening, sometimes sobering) into the performance of the methods under consideration.
