โœฆ Synopsis

The following review of three major books on public management appears outside the Book Review section. Because one of the books is by Laurence Lynn (JPAM's book review editor)-a book I judged to be of major significance, particularly with the other two-it would not have been appropriate for it to have been included with the other book reviews under Lynn's editorship. Thus, I have made it my responsibility. The essay by Eugene B. McGregor Jr. is a thorough and thoughtful review of the three books as well as a more general discussion of the diverse ways in which public management research is evolving.
