✦ Synopsis

Book reviews 77 understanding. Mathematical equations are used where appropriate to emphasise design features, but the vast majority of the last Ðve chapters is considered in a nonmathematical fashion. Many real examples are given both as general illustrations and as an information package and these should prove useful to anyone intending to use electrochemistry in their effluent or synthetic processes.

Overall, I consider that the book is a worthwhile addition to texts available in this area. I would dispute, however, whether it will prove to be of use across a broad range of scientists and technologists as is intended, given the speciÐc chemical knowledge that appears to be required in order to gain most from the book. Electrochemistry tends to be very unpopular with undergraduate students and industrialists alike but this text may go some way to persuading those interested in clean technology of the advantages to be gained by considering the use of electrochemical processes.
