Bonellin: Determination of Its Absolute Configuration

The absolute configuration of bonellin (3), the physiologically active pigment of the marine echiuroid worm Bonellia viridis, has been established as (S) by ozonolytic degradation. Ozonolysis forms the imide 5 the configuration of which was confirmed by CD spectroscopic comparison with 5 from degradation of vitamin B~12~.
