✦ Synopsis
Bond graph models for chemical kinetics are extended to electrochemical systems. Although many electrochemical systems can be considered to function in a constant temperature environment, high-power energy storage systems, such as electric vehicle batteries, undergo drastic changes in temperature in operation. Therefore the bond graph models are also extended to couple with thermal models driven by energy dissipation of a chemical or electrical nature. Electrochemical-thermal bond graph models are readily coupled to standard bond graph models for electrical and mechanical components of an overall system such as an electric vehicle.
