Unfortunately, the European Union has recently taken a strong stance on data protection legislation as can be seen from the Directive on the Protection of Individuals with Regard to the Processing of Personal Data and on the Free Movement of such Data. In reality, that stance is not matched by the inhabitants of Europe who, in practice, seem to be far more relaxed about the use of their personal data. People will most certainly want this technology and therefore it is highly likely that the legal technicalities in particular, infringement of data protection, will be ignored -both by the users and by the providers of the technology. This would certainly be the best course to adopt since the dangers of being left behind in the next technological revolution are great.
