As the Army of the Renunciate fights it way north, marching to the relief of embattled Angrim, Isranon tries to turn two thirteen-year-old boys from the path of darkness: Stygean Loosestrife and Jingen Scathwick. Aided and abetted by Jingen's mother, the boys plan to murder him; and his reward for trying to save them may well be death.
