Dear Readers ,
Many years ago,when I set out to create the Blood Curse Series, I wanted to completely reinvent the mythology and origin of vampires, while still holding true to their Transylvanian roots. I did not want to write about undead humans who were "made" by other vampires. Rather, I sought to create a separate species altogether, the progeny of gods and men, who had been CURSED for an unforgivable sin. All that is savage and dark within them is a product of The Curse, while all that is light and good is a product of the Four Mercies.
In doing so, I created a society where good battles evil; loyalty, brotherhood, and honor reign supreme; and love is a hard-won gift, born of great sacrifice, incredible patience, and sometimes pain. There are no easy, "love at first sight" walks-through-the-park in the Blood Curse Series. Each book explores the difficult journey of two souls as they seek to maintain their dignity, discover their purpose (and one another), and find a ray of light in an otherwise, very-dark world. The vampires are powerful. The enemies are lethal. And everyone is beholden to an ancient law.
I hope you enjoy this unique, Dark Fantasy ~ Gothic Romance world as much as I've enjoyed creating it!
A FEW COMMON QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
DO I NEED TO READ THE BLOOD CURSE SERIES IN ORDER???
I get this question so often, I thought I would answer it here. In four words: No, you do not. Each book tells a complete new story and involves a fresh pair of characters. You should be able to follow The Curse, get absorbed in the action, and feel a deep connection as the story moves along (just be sure to read the short "Blood Curse"excerpt at the beginning of every book, as well as the prologue - they're critical.
That said, you will have a much richer experience if you read the series in order: a broader connection to secondary characters and families, a much deeper sense of the world itself, and a fuller understanding of all the journeys that have led to this point. However, if I were a new reader, I would look at the back blurbs,choose the story that appealed to me most, and start right there. If it absorbs you, you may very well want to go back and start at the beginning.

I've built original mythology (borrowed from history,psychology, and criminal justice) and wrapped it in a world filled with hope& pain; joy & sorrow; passionate love & triumphant overcoming...where souls must evolve to survive...and good always conquers evil.
If you watch popular television series with iron thrones & dragons;Nordic ships & pagan conquerors; or a band of heroes, who survive in a world of zombies -- AND YOU ABSOLUTELY LOVE ANY OR ALL OF THEM -- then you already enjoy the full range of Dark Fantasy emotion...and its world-building.
