✦ Synopsis

The blocking effect of selected surfactants on phenoxazme-modified graphite electrodes was studled by amperometry and cychc voltammetry Non-Ionic surfactants such as Tween 20,60 and 80 caused an almost u-reversible blockmg of NADH oxldatlon at the electrode Hexacyanoferrate(II)/(lII) and protons, however, could penetrate the adsorbed surfactant layer Catlomc and anionic surfactants produced reversible blockmg, 1 e the current was depressed when the surfactants were present, but returned to its orlgmal value after the system had been flushed with pure buffer Adsorbed non-lomc surfactants could easily be removed by a solution of SDS at a concentratton above cmc, thus restormg the orlgmal current for NADH oxldatlon
