โฆ Synopsis
The electron spin resonance (ESR) spectra of polystyrene (PS) end-labelled with nitroxide groups were recorded over a temperature range for the bulk polymer and for (1:l w/w) blends with polyisoprene (PIP) containing varying amounts of compatibilizing PS-b-PIP triblock copolymer. The changes in the ESR spectra on addition of the block copolymer to the blend reveal that the copolymer migrates to and packs at the interphase. Analysis of the spectra at various compatibilizer concentrations shows that the rate of migration and final packing density of the copolymer in the interphase is dependent on the initial amount of block copolymer in the blend.
