✦ Synopsis
The influence of the ageing in an air environment on the carbonation depth and on the strength development, as a function of the SO 3 content of the blend, has been investigated on blastfurnace slag cement mortars manufactured with 70% fresh granulated or weathered slag, respectively, ground to a fineness of 380 m2/kg. The weathered sample was also ground with a power consumption equal to that of the fresh granulated slag, reaching a fineness of 500 m2/kg. It is pointed out that, with higher fineness, cement containing 70% weathered slag from open-air storage reaches strength similar to the corresponding cement with fresh granulated slag ground to lower fineness.
