โฆ Synopsis
Blast-P)e,'~eace lrIea,'ths and LiMngs.
42(~ resistances of the two machines is no doubt a mo(litlying influence, but it seems to have little eit~ct and, in Ltet, counts tbr little in comparison with the counter-electromotive ibrces developed under tile conditions.
The effect of running the two machines in series as motors is very dittbrent. Whenso used, and with their shafts very free to turn, the larger, or one capable of producing the highest counter-electromotive three to that of the generator, alone revolves, while the smaller remains at rest. Ii, however, the ibrmer or larger machine be made to pertbrm mechanical work--that is, to furnish power--its running speed is, of course, retarded and the other machine turns with a speed depending on the amount of work abstracted from its companion.
