✦ Synopsis
Wideband communication characteristics for two different geometrical configurations of a gymnasium at 57.5 GHz are in¨estigated. Shooting and bouncing rayrimage techniques are applied to compute the impulse response. By using the impulse response of these multipath ( channels, the outage probability for high-speed BPSK binary phase-shift ) keying systems with phase and timing reco¨ery circuits is calculated. Numerical results show that the mean delay spread for the dome-shaped gymnasium is smaller than that for the square-shaped gymnasium. Moreo¨er, the mean delay spread for the region near the center of the gymnasiums is larger than that for the region far away from the center. In addition, it is also found that communication is not feasible e¨en if the transmission rate is as low as 2.5 Mbitsrs.
