In the crystal structure of the title compound, 2C~5~H~6~N~5~ ^+^·C~6~Cl~2~O~4~ ^2−^·2H~2~O, two adeninium cations, one chloranilate dianion and two water molecules are held together by O—H...O, N—H...O, O—H...Cl and C—H...O hydrogen bonds, forming a centrosymmetric unit. The chloranilate dianion re
