A method for obtaining highly purified NADH in a dry, solid, and stable form is described. The method involves improvements of the ion-exchange and reversed-phase chromatographic procedures of C. J. Newton and S. M. Faynor, and D. B. Northrop (Anal. Biochem., 1983, 132, 50-53). The necessary time to

Visible resonance Raman spectra in the low-frequency region (200-500 cm-') are reported for hemoglobin ( H b ) reconstituted with heme that is deuterated at the meso carbon atoms (meso-d,). Spectra were obtained in the deoxy form and in the immediate photoproduct of the carbonmonoxide adduct, HbCO.

## Abstract ^11^C‐labelled galactose, glycerol and mannitol have been prepared biosynthetically from ^11^C‐labelled carbon dioxide using species of marine algae. Following biosynthesis the labelled compounds are rapidly extracted from the algae and purified by liquid chromatography.

## Abstract Retinyl acetate (4a) has been prepared with a tritium label at the C‐11 and C‐12 positions by partial reduction of oxenin (1) with tritium gas followed by acetylation and rearrangement. Specific activities of up to 40 curies/mmole have been attained. By alkaline hydrolysis, retinol (5)
