โœฆ Synopsis

AImtract.--Tricbothecolone biosynthesized in the presence of doubly labeled mevalonate, [4(R)+'H,Z-'*C]MVA, was degraded to show that the carbon atom at position 8 originated from C,,, of mevalonic acid. Two minor cytotoxic metabolites were isolated from 7Ikhothecium roseum and their biogenetic relation to trichothecin is shown.

Arachidonic acid, cellulase, CuSO4, a sonicate of Phytophthora infestans mycelium and a spore suspension of Penicillium chrysogenum all elicited the formation of the sesquiterpenoid phytoalexins lubimin, 3-hydroxylubimin and rishitin in fruit cavities of Datura stramonium. 3-Hydroxylubimin was the p
