## Abstract Ternatins are blue anthocyanins found in the petals of __Clitoria ternata__ (butterfly pea). Among them, ternatin C5 (delphinidin 3‐__O__‐(6″‐__O__‐malonyl)‐__β__‐glucoside‐3′,5′‐di‐__O__‐__β__‐glucoside; **2**) has the structure common to all the ternatins, which is characterized by it
