The topics dealt with at the Institute will include the structure, biochemical role, and biophysical properties of nucleic acids, proteins, and enzymes, the mechanism of energy and electron migration, excited states of biomolecules and biomacromolecules and the interpretation of their spectra, excitons, magnetic properties of macromolecules containing transition metal ions, intermolecular interactions, hydrogen bonding and other properties involving protons, application of quantum theories to the structure and function of biomolecules, etc. A number of grants for living or traveling expenses of the participants (including the non-American ones) are available.
