โฆ Synopsis
However, the section entitled 'To the antisocial' seemed overly simplistic; i.e., 'Accept that you have ASPD' and 'Learn to feel guilt and shame.' Given all that the author himself said in earlier chapters about the aetiology and life course of ASPD, particularly the influence of genetics and the high incidence of other mental disorders in this group, I remain sceptical that this approach would be helpful with most ASPD patients.
Overall, Bad Boys, Bad Men has a content ratio of approximately 70% research reviews and general discussion of the subject matter vs. 30% case histories. This is a well-organised and clearly written book suitable for anyone who is relatively unfamiliar with antisocial personality disorder and needs a quick introduction. An interest in ASPD case histories might be necessary as well.
