Abstract
A short total synthesis of the ceramide (2__S__,3__R__,4__E__)‐2‐(octadecanoylamino)‐4‐octadecene‐1,3‐diol (1) is reported, using (+)‐diethyl L‐tartrate (2) as the optically active starting material.
