✦ Synopsis
The acetates of polyhydroxylated steroids obtained from the starfish .4sieririci prciinifrru Miillcr ct Troschcl were studied by 'H-N M R spectroscopy. The 'H-NMK spectra of five kinds ofacctates or polyhydroxylated cholestanes were measured in deuteriochloroform and deuteriopyridine solutions and then compared. Marked diflerences wcre obscrvcd between the spcctra obtained in both solvcnts. The spcctra in deuteriopyridinc were morc useful than thosc in dcutcriochlorororm in providing information on the structurc of ihc parent polyhydroxylatcd cholestanes. The isolation and structurcs of thc two ncw polyhydroxylated cholestanes I and 8 are also described. Moreover. thc antitumor activities of some polyhydroxylated steroids from this starfish were examined.
