β¦ Synopsis
Abstract
Biofuels could provide 27% of total global transport fuels by 2050, compared with just 2% today, if they are produced sustainably, according to the International Energy Agency (IEA). To meet this target, biofuel technologies need to become more efficient and policies will be needed to incentivize the most efficient biofuels in terms of greenhouse gas (GHG) performance and ensure that food security and biodiversity are not compromised. Anna Jagger reflects on the IEA's recommendations in the recent Technology Roadmap: Biofuels for Transport. Β© 2011 Society of Chemical Industry and John Wiley & Sons, Ltd
