## Abstract Retention mechanism of ionic compounds is still not fully known and investigated. It concerns especially ionic liquids (ILs) and HPLC. In the present study, interactions between imidazolium ILs and stationary phases were investigated in complex manner. For that purpose, five ILs, eight
