Interestingly, none of them expressed any interest in the innovation records of the companies they had considered buying. The CIA claims to be committed to supporting innovation in the chemicals industry, but this commitment is not shared by the private equity houses. My view is that this shift in ownership of the chemical industry towards private equity ownership is one of the major factors in the current decline in industrial innovation in the West.
