✦ Synopsis
THIS book on general surgery is written for the medical students of India, and as such it should prove of real value to the ever-increasing number of these students in the various Indian Medical Schools.
Professor Udupa's surgical background has enabled him to set down the main basic principles of general surgery.
It is a pity that a book of this size and importance should not have been better illustrated. There are only 162 illustrations in the book and some of these are poor.
In a book which is devoted to the principles of general surgery it surely is not necessary to describe and illustrate the various types of tracheo-esophageal fistulae. Nor should it be necessary to illustrate the use of aortic homographs for replacing the abdominal aorta affected by aneurysm.
However, no doubt the author will be able to produce a much better second edition.
The paper used in this book is of poor quality and the binding is weak.
