✦ Synopsis


The sternalis muscle has been observed with comparative frequency in dissect ing-r o om sub j ec t s , different observers giving figures of frequency varying from 3.2 per cent1 to 8.4 per cent2 of dissecting-room bodies. Yap,S in a recent examination of this muscle on adult Filipino cadavers, found a unilateral sternalis muscle present in 3.6 per cent and bilateral muscles in 2.2 per cent of the cadavers examined by him.

Systematic search for this muscle in the living subject has not been made to the same extent, and there are few records of observations on it. Pilcher4 has summarized these obser-
