John Paul Lona a commencé sa carrière en tant qu’illustrateur freelance pour West End Games. Il a notamment travaillé sur plusieurs guides et Sourcebook avec Peter Schweighofer et illustré les premières nouvelles publiées par ce dernier dans le _Star Wars Adventure Journal.

Big Quince, paru dans le Star Wars Adventure Journal #2, fait indirectement suite à la Mort de Chessa et use du même procédé narratif, à savoir l’alliance savoureuse du texte de Schweighofer et des dessins de Lona. Cette fois-ci, le duo nous fait partager un moment fort de la vie du Twi’lek Tru’eb, alors esclave, et sa rencontre avec la fameuse contrebandière Platt Okeefe, héroïne créée par Peter Schweighofer et qui fait probablement ici sa première apparition.
