The year is 2524. Men and women, too young to have fought in the last war, have been drafted into service in the Alliance Marine Corps. Corporal Lee Newman is one of those recruits. Cast out into unknown space in search of long lost alien technology that could provide the key to their future. He is about to get his first taste of combat, and soon finds himself in the company of a great hero of the last war, Colonel Mitch Taylor. Together they must fight to save Earth. But the Alliance is fractured.
Earth lies in ruins, a victim of the same fate that all the colonised worlds in the Alliance suffered. Milo Rivers, The President of the Alliance and a genius scientist, is searching for ways to make the planet inhabitable once more. But many are losing faith in his search and his abilities.
Civil war has broken out amongst the Krys, a powerful race that had been allied with Humanity for hundreds of years. Divisions among Humanity run deep. The Alliance must hold together, or there is little hope for the future. The key to that future may lie on a distant and inhospitable world known as M590. But as the dark shadow of war looms again, the chances of retrieving it seem next to impossible.
