✦ Synopsis

Stacy Hoff’s new series Building Love is set in Vegas, one of my happy places. I absolutely LOVE it there. My husband and I went for our “baby moon,” then again when we flew out to California to visit family, then I got to again on a girls trip. So, when Stacy told me about this one, I was really excited to go back and visit with fresh new faces. Betting on Love in Vegas’ plot line is excellent, one that I personally haven’t read about, a great build up and strong characters. I’ve read Stacy’s Desire series and while the writing and descriptions were done really well, you can tell it’s getting better and better with each book. Just as her descriptions of the arctic and wilderness had me feeling like I was actually there, this book does the same only in Vegas. I felt like I was back in my happy place, taking in the lights and sounds of the chaos. I love seeing Stacy’s growth as well as her characters, so let’s talk about them shall we? Cat Warner is trying to make a name for herself in a very cutthroat business that is real estate and VERY male driven. It’s always nice to read about a strong, independent heroine that isn’t afraid. She holds her own and stands her ground and that for me stood out the most. There were no “damsel in distress” moments with her. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE a good fairytale like story, I do, but I also love books that depict that AS WELL as strength and Cat has that in spades. She knows what she wants and doesn’t budge, not once about it. She makes business decisions with her mind and NOT her heart even though it’s her heart that is driving her. Does that make sense? She makes the best decisions for HERSELF and not others, something that I think we all need to remind ourselves of, no? Ty Orland, the businessman trying to strike a deal with Cat has no idea what he’s gotten himself into with her and I loved watching that unfold. I had a few laugh out loud moments throughout the book as well. The banter between these two had me rolling and the internal struggle with how Ty wants his deal to go over how he’s starting to feel for Cat was interesting (in a good way) to watch unravel. They say never mix business with pleasure and that’s his issue here but the way these two handled it was nothing short of fantastic. Like I said, Cat holds her own and I loved being able to get to know these two. Ty was the perfect gentleman and definitely swoon-worthy.
