✦ Synopsis
Producing a jc(H)--curve as fiat as possible will lead to considerably better stability against flux jumping in wires for superconducting solenoids without decreasing the current density in the interesting regions. Due to the corresponding reduction of maximum magnetization lower a c losses will be reached, too, and the contribution of wire magnetization to the coil field will decrease which is important for high homogeneity solenoids. Increasing the stability and decreasing the magnetization by this method is cheaper than producing the same results by reduction of the wire diameter.
