Después de hablar de Joan Crawford, lo obligado es dedicarle unas líneas a su gran rival Bette Davis. Sus vidas se desarrollaron de forma paralela, ambas alcanzaron el mismo status legendario y, evidentemente, la historia del cine habría sido menos apasionante sin su aportación. Cada una fue la mejor en su terreno: Joan logró ser la estrella de cine por excelencia, la más egomaníaca y vanidosa de todas (para ella, siempre fue más importante ser estrella que actriz), y Bette se convirtió en la actriz definitiva, la más respetada y temida de la historia (en todo caso, sólo Katharine Hepburn pudo equipararse a Bette Davis en cuestión de prestigio y profesionalidad). Por ello, porque fueron igual de poderosas y carismáticas, resulta fascinante conocer detalles de la extraña relación que mantuvieron a lo largo de los años.
