✦ Synopsis
The presence of a scalar interaction in nuclear beta-decay was studied by measuring the beta-neutrino correlation coefficient a in the superallowed pure Fermi fl-transition ~8Ne(0+) ---* 18F(0+, 1040 keV) (Tl/2 = 1.67 s). The resulting value, i.e. a = +1.06 + 0.19 (error quoted at 2o'), corresponds to the limit v/ICsl2 + If612 ,< 0.29lCvl (95% CL) for the scalar coupling constant. @ 1997 Elsevier Science B.V.
