The Level o/ Plasma Fibrinogen during the Course o/Exchange Trans/usions Summary. The level of fibrinogen in 117 newborns with pathological icterus fluctuated between 186 mgm~ and 360 mgm% during the first six days of life. No significant differences were observed between newborns with Rh-and A-B-0-incompatibility and those with idiopathic hyperbitirubinaemia. During the exchange transfusion the level of fibrinogen decreases significantly and, towards the end, reaches levels which are below those of the donor blood. Complications or afterbleeding were not observed in any of the patients.
