Aue einem Schreiben des Hewn J. Bitdiie an den Heransgeber, betreffend das Datum der Entdeckung des Pons'schen Cometen durch Brooks.

The comet was first seen on Sept. I by Mr. W. R. Brooks, not Sept. 2 as cabled. Error arose from the fact that Swift held the announcement message until the 3rd hoping to verify on the 211d. The znd was cloudy, but not giving any date of discovery, it was fair to assume that it was the night preceding the announcement.
