✦ Synopsis
The crystal structure of benzylammonium nitrate, C 7 H 10 N + ÁNO 3 À , exhibits ionic layers separated by hydrocarbon layers. The hydrocarbon layer contains the interdigitated benzyl groups, but no %±% interactions are observed. In the inorganic layer, the ammonium groups and nitrate ions interact via hydrogen-bonding.

## Abstract A portion of the binary phase diagram for the system ammonium nitrate‐potassium nitrate has been determined from − 55 °C to 185 °C. Results are presented for the ammonium‐nitrate‐rich end of the system up to 30 wt% potassium nitrate.
The cations and anions of the title compound, 2C~7~H~10~N^+^·SO~4~ ^2−^, are linked into a layer by N—H...O hydrogen bonds.
