✦ Synopsis

Abstract

We show how a wire inverted‐F antenna can be made more compact without significant alteration of its impedance and radiation characteristics. Two modified inverted‐F antennas, one in air and another with solid dielectric casing, were computer‐simulated for the 2.4‐GHz band and their input match loss and bandwidth were validated experimentally. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. ## Abstract A simple, bent monopole antenna well useful for WLAN applications in the 2.4 GHz band is presented. The monopole antenna has a rectangular radiating plate in general and is short‐circuited to a small antenna ground and an assembly plate. The assembly plate is not only used as a supporti
