San Diego provided its proverbial climate (although inshore the desert suffered a heat-wave); the enormous marina immediately outside the hotel had to be seen to be believed (at least by a landlubbing Brit!); and the mix of Southern California and Mexican cultures managed to make relaxing seem quite business-like
