A new method is developed for determination of the amounts of different strongly basic groups present in currently used strongly basic anion exchangers. The method involves conversion into the base form of the weakly basic groups present in the exchange resin, which is in the chloride form. This is done by reaction with an ammonia solution containing sodium chloride under stirring. Because of the chloride added, the strongly basic groups are practically not affected by the ammonia. The results are therefore more illustrative of the basicity ratios present in ion-exchange resins than with older methods of determination. EINLEITUNG
