✦ Synopsis

The Institute of Mathematics of the Academia Sinica arranged a seminar, held in Beijing on the history of mathematics. The local organizer was Professor Li Wenlin.

Professor Henk Bos (Utrecht) and Professor Kirsti Andersen (Aarhus) were invited to give a joint series of lectures on European mathematics during the 17th century. In addition, the following 19 papers were presented by other participants from China:
